    Hi everyone - I am a 55 yr old female who was diagnosed with Dupuytren in both hands a few weeks ago. No contracture yet. I’ve see the terms “active” and “dormant” phrase in several posts. I have a red, tender dorsal nodule on my left middle finger (this is what prompted me to see a doctor). Does this inflamed nodule mean I am in an active phase, and when/if it calms down I’d be in a dormant phase? Also, I have a big lump on my palm between the thumb and the forefinger. It looks bruised. Is this part of Dupuytren? Thank you!

    Hi teacando, I too have some dorsal nodules that go through phases of soreness, swollen, and back to nothing. In my case these cycles do not seem to affect or be related to symptoms of nodules in my palm; but everyone is different so maybe there is some local inflammation or activity that will affect your hand or fingers palm side:- do you have other symptoms, pain, itching, tingling, soreness etc on the palmar side that coincide with incidences of soreness with the dorsal nodules?

    The area in your palm, does not look like a typical Dupuytrens nodule, or cord, but it would be best to have it examined and diagnosed by an experienced hand surgeon. Have you done any gripping activity to inflame that area, weights, cycling, gardening, kitchen work, etc?
