I live in Independence Missouri. The reason i ask is because you had mentioned England and Poole hospital. And it sounds like you are not from England but did you know that England has Poole there also.

Re: Is stretching the hand/fingers of any use?

Suzuki,
Yes, I did have NA first, then RT about 3 months later. I waited because of my personal schedule, otherwise I would have had RT the next month. Yes, there is every evidence that RT worked for me after having NA. So, if you can't get RT before you need NA, it should still work. The key, according to my radiologist, is that it works on active Dupuytren's. If yours is still progressing with contracture or more nodules, it's active and RT is a likely treatment option. My radiologist also said that if there is contracture, having NA before RT was the thing to do because RT will not work on tissue that has already developed into scar tissue/cords anyway.

If I had found this site sooner, I'd have been in position to opt for RT before contracture began like you hope to do. Even so, my contracture was <20 degrees and only my palm and in MCP joints of thumb and pinky.

From my personal analysis, NA helped me to lay my hand flat so the radiation would be more even. I tried very hard to have my hand completely flat during the radiation. Even before RT was finished, my palm was less tight as the nodules reduced and easier to lay it flatter.

Hi Aussie Calling. Its a hop skip and a jump away from the motherland to the fatherland- Germany. Enjoy the experience and have a holiday and work in the RT.

Re: Is stretching the hand/fingers of any use?

Hi suzuki, Aussie calling, sorry I did not get back to you. At present I am in Germany and I checked another option for you . Firstly I did receive treatment in Essen in 07 ( both hands/feet ) under Prof Seegenschmiedt , but unfortunately he is no longer at the Alfred Krupp Hospital , however ,they still offer the treatment. My treatment was complex ,as I have had numerous surgery and grafts. My cost was 3,000 euro. I believe the treatment for one hand is around 400 euros, which another member( alan-texas) reported recently. I saw that Dr .Markus Herstroter of Stadtische Klinken ,Frankfurt had supplied photos on this site for RT on Ledderhose so I gave them a call. (+49) (0) 69-3106-3229 where I spoke to frau Benedict ( speaks english) She informed me Dr Herstroter also speaks english and has treated many patients from the US. I looked on his web site and he particularly lists treatment for Dupuytrens and Ledderhose. You might like to use the email as sometimes it is difficult on the spur of the moment to get all the info in English. e-mail strahlentherapie@skfh.de Finally you dont mention your age. Personally I would not worry over 40 yrs of age. Regards
