Paris web site

Paris-tourist.com or Paris bureau de tourisme will take
you to the chamber of Commerce site for Paris. Click on the
accomodations link to select one of Paris' 75,000 hotel
rooms. Hotels/restaurants are often listed by arrondissement
(district) that is where a map or guide helps. (L'Etoile/
Arc de Triomphe is 17th, Lariboisiere Hospital is 10th, L'Opera/Am. Express are 9th, if my memory still functions.)
The NA will take 60 minutes out of your trip; plan accordingly, wear comfortable shoes, and have some fun!

Thanks to Stage One

I appreciate the info you sent. Comfortable shoes will be on my packing list. From Dr. Badois note I believe that he does not perform the procedure at Lariboisiere Hospital. Does he do it in his private office and is that in the same district (#10)as the hospital?

Lots of questions I have, right? Sorry, but I'd just as soon am armed with all the info I can gain, than run around Paris blind. Traudl

No. and...

Dr. Badois has an office in a lovely suburb (banlieu) of Paris about 10 miles north of the city. It is a short train ride from Paris (plus a bus ride.) The Train station to that
lovely town is Gare de Nord which is near the Lariboisiere Hospital, both of which are in the 10th Ar. Please go to Walte Stagner's web site and click on Dave's Dupuytrens
link. Dave has a detail of his trip (train, bus, etc.) plus pictures of Dr. Badois and the office. If you arrive at
Soissy Sous Montmorency early, there is a very nice small restauarant 100 metres from the office (cabinet.)Everyone
will listen to your French attempts politely;and they speak
English (very well.) The only questions involve last minute
confusion versus convenience. If you prefer the Left Bank (Rive Gauche) of Paris, that is fine; it just adds another
dimension to the commute. Incidentally the French word.
"Hotel de Ville" means City Hall, not hotel, as commonly meant in english. The Train to Soissy S. M. costs about 2 Euros. If you are staying in Paris get a zone 3 Visite Paris
metro pass and consider a museum pass if you plan to visit
the Louvre, D[orsay, Grand Palais, etc and their special exibits. Avoid Disneyland. Settle for the Visite Paris pass and spend some cash on the RER (train to S.S.M) and
a few memories. See Montmartre (Sacre Coeur,) the Eiffel Tower, D'Orsay, Champs Elysee, The Tuilleries, Louvre,
Gallaries Lafayette, The Sorbonne, Deux Margot, Cafe Flore
etc. The city is replete with history and tourist sites.
A year would not be time enough. Enjoy youself, get a
Michelin Green Book, learn a few phrases (hello, thank you, please, I am lost, where is, help me please, etc.) Go for it! Your hand will be better for the trip. Remember, it is
Winter, mild but chilly and overcast most likely. The
Paris bureau de tourisme web site is in English and lists
exhibits and venues as well as accomodations. The only
down side will be the exchange rate and the value added tax
of 19.8 % on some transactions. If you prepay the hotel
from outside the country, you may save that 19.8% as well as
get a lower rate. Always ask at restaurants if service is
included (es'ce'gue service complis? Ou, non?) It is easy
for foreignors to over pay or under tip if the matter is unclear. Always ask. Smile and say "Bonjour,"" Merci"
Bon Voyage!

~dq~Needle Aponevrotomy~dq~

I am a violinist who developed a contracture of my right pinky, but involving the whole hand. While it was not yet interfering with my bowing, I was having a hard time accompanying my students on the piano. I have extremely small fingers so I was concerned about any operation damaging the nerves. I chose Needle Aponevrotomy and had the procedure done by Dr. Rappoport near the beautiful city of Lausanne, Switzerland. Experience was the prime criterion, but I also wanted it done in one visit, if possible. Dr. Rappoport offered both.
Dr. Rappoport is not only a woderful physician but an extremely kind and considerate person. He performed the procedure, cutting three cords in about an hour, causing a minimum of pain. Now, a week later, I am not only fully recovered, but I am able to play octaves once again!
Many thanks to Walt, Dave and all the others in this forum who saved me from possibly debilitating surgery. Special thanks to Dr. Rappoport.

NA and my experience

I also visited Dr R about 3 weeks ago and have nothing but positive comments, though not cured, the results were well worth the expense.
